Rohit Sharma slip

India began their three-match ODI series against the West Indies with a commanding eight-wicket victory, but a sudden incident outside the team hotel gave fans and the Indian camp an unexpected scare.

Veteran opener Rohit Sharma slipped while getting off the team bus after India returned to their hotel in Thiruvananthapuram following the first ODI at the Greenfield International Stadium.

A video of the Rohit Sharma injury scare quickly went viral on social media, with Virat Kohli’s reaction to the incident also catching the attention of fans.

Rohit Sharma Injury Scare After 1st ODI vs West Indies

The Indian team received a festive welcome at the hotel after their convincing victory. Traditional music and performances were arranged as the players made their way from the team bus towards the hotel entrance.

Several players, including Virat Kohli, had already stepped off the bus before Rohit came out.

Rohit appeared to be wearing headphones while making his way down the stairs. However, he suddenly lost his footing and slipped backwards while stepping off the bus.

Security personnel and members of the Indian support staff standing nearby immediately moved forward to help him.

Kohli, who was walking ahead, quickly turned around after noticing the incident and appeared shocked by Rohit’s sudden fall.

Fortunately, Rohit was soon back on his feet and walked towards the hotel without showing any obvious sign of a serious injury.

No Major Injury Reported After Rohit’s Fall

There has been no official announcement suggesting that Rohit suffered any major injury in the incident.

The Indian opener was able to walk normally after getting back on his feet, which will be a relief for both the team management and fans.

However, such unexpected falls can sometimes result in minor knocks, sprains or muscle discomfort. With Rohit now in the later stage of his international career, managing his fitness remains extremely important.

The 2027 ODI World Cup remains an important target for Rohit, and staying fit and maintaining match sharpness will be crucial if he is to remain part of India’s plans for the tournament.

An injury caused by an off-field accident would be the last thing Rohit or the Indian team management would want at this stage.

Rohit Sharma Scores 32 in India’s Successful Chase

Earlier in the evening, Rohit had made a promising start during India’s chase of 296

Opening the innings alongside captain Shubman Gill, the experienced batter looked comfortable against the West Indian new-ball attack and helped India make a positive start.

Rohit scored 32 runs from 35 deliveries, hitting two fours and three sixes.

However, West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph managed to put him under pressure with a tight spell. Rohit eventually tried to break the pressure but was caught after failing to execute his shot properly.

It was another start that Rohit would have wanted to convert into a much bigger innings.
