Rohit Sharma made a memorable comeback to One Day Internationals by achieving a significant milestone in India’s first ODI match against Sri Lanka in Colombo on Friday. Rohit began India’s batting by hitting a six and a four in the very first over, following Sri Lanka’s total of 230 runs after they batted first.
The experienced opening batsman made history when he hit his third six of the match. He surpassed the previous record held by former England captain Eoin Morgan for the most sixes by a captain in international cricket. Rohit now holds the record with 234 sixes in only 134 innings as a captain in international cricket. Former Indian captain MS Dhoni is in third place with over 200 sixes as a captain in international cricket.

The experienced Indian captain also ended his innings by hitting 1,000 boundaries in one-day cricket. He became the fifth Indian player, after Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Virender Sehwag, and Sourav Ganguly, to score over 1,000 boundaries in ODIs.
Rohit scored the highest with 58 runs off 47 balls, including three sixes and seven boundaries, helping India take a strong position for an easy victory. However, the Indian team suffered a disappointing collapse from 75/0 to 132/5. The Sri Lankan spinner made a remarkable comeback, limiting India to 230 runs in 47.5 overs and tying the match.
