Rohit Sharma Or Kohli? Gautam Gambhir Comes With A Controversial Statement

India has won the two back-to-back games of the Border-Gavaskar trophy, the last one in Delhi where they beat the visitors by 6 wickets. Two matches are still to go, the third one at Holkar Stadium in Indore and the last one in Ahmedabad. Rohit Sharma as captain of Test cricket has been unbeatable.

When the former cricketers and fans are praising Rohit Sharma for his brilliant captaincy, former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir has given a controversial statement on the Hitman’s captaincy. Gambhir believes that Rohit Sharma is doing nothing new and he is only following the template that has been provided by Kohli.

On February 19 in Delhi, India defeated Australia in the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by a margin of six wickets. After destroying Pat Cummins and company by innings and 132 runs in the first game in Nagpur, the hosts lead the four-match series 2-0 heading into the following Test in Indore.

During a discussion with star sports, Gambhir took a jibe at Rohit Sharma and said, “Honestly, I have always believed that Rohit Sharma is an amazing captain, but there is not much difference between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, especially in this format. Virat Kohli started this template.”

The former left-handed batter said that Rohit is only walking on the roadmap of what was given by Kohli.

Gambhir said, “Virat Kohli has captained exceptionally well whenever he has captained this Test team and Rohit is probably following that template only. Honestly, Rohit has not created his own template. The way Virat Kohli managed Ashwin and Jadeja, it is the absolutely identical captaincy.”
