Rohit Sharma Or Hardik Pandya? Jay Shah Names The Indian Captain For The 2024 T20 World Cup

In an exclusive news, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Jay Shah has officially announced that Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian cricket team in the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in the USA and West Indies.

During an event to reveal the name of the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, Jay Shah, in his speech to the audience, discussed the disappointment of the ODI World Cup last year. However, he expressed optimism about putting an end to the quest for the ICC trophy under Rohit’s captaincy later this year.

“We may have lost the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup. But we won hearts thereby winning 10 matches in a row. I am confident that India will lift the 2024 T20 World Cup under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy at Barbados,” said Shah.

Shah made this statement in the presence of key figures such as India’s captain Rohit Sharma, coach Rahul Dravid, and the chairman of the men’s senior selection committee, Ajit Agarkar, during the event to unveil the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.

Jay Shah further added, “The BCCI secretary Jay Shah added, “Rohit was captaining (in the past and other formats) and he came back for the Afghanistan series, which means we were going to let him continue forward.”

Rohit Sharma had been absent from the T20I side for a span of 14 months. However, he marked his comeback to the format in January during the series against Afghanistan. Despite facing challenges with two ducks in the initial two games, the captain staged a remarkable return in the third match and scored his fifth century in the T20 format.
