The Vijay Hazare Trophy second round matches began on December 26, Friday, at different venues in India. All the people were once again focusing on Kohli and Sharma who were asked to participate in two matches during the domestic tournament organized by BCCI.
In the first round, both Virat and Rohit made BCCI’s request good and scored rapid-fire centuries. Unfortunately, the match of Virat was played without the public, but Rohit made the Sawai Mansingh Stadium electrifying with a sensational 155 (94). In the ongoing round, the match between Mumbai and Uttarakhand was played in Jaipur, and the fans came in thousands to watch the Hitman’s return.
The fans were disappointed as Rohit Sharma was out without scoring and he got a golden duck. On the last ball of the first over, Devendra Bora threw a short ball to the Hitman and he quickly attempted to pull it away and…
…the 38-year-old was indeed unable to hit it well and offered an easy catch to the fielder at the boundary line. Rohit almost got a crack to live as the fielder fumbled but eventually got the catch on the second try. Click here to see the dismissal.
Disappointed fans leave the stadium
The Indian cricket star Rohit Sharma did not get a chance to play long but still, the audience at Sahai Mansingh Stadium remained. The fascination for the Hitman and the Mumbai team is such, that the fans hung around the ground hoping for the Rohit Sharma and the team to come out in the field and get a few more minutes of the Indian legend on the field.
For those who do not know, in the first match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the Rajasthan Cricket Association opened only two gates for the game but the fans came in huge numbers, which resulted in logistical problems.
Thus, for the present match, the cricket association announced that they would be opening two more gates to enable the smooth flow of the fans. Meanwhile, regarding the current match, as we were writing this article, Mumbai had scored 129 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 20 overs.
