Rohit Sharma achieves this elusive milestone in IPL

CRIC Informer

Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai Indians’ leading player, has achieved the rare distinction of crossing 6000 runs for a particular team in T20 cricket, becoming the second player to do so. He achieved this milestone in the 2025 IPL match against the Rajasthan Royals at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, on Thursday. He is also MI’s highest scorer in IPL history with 6024 runs in 231 matches, next to Virat Kohli’s 8871 runs for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

In a match, Rohit scored 53 runs from 36 balls, including nine fours. He was then dismissed by Riyan Parag. It was his third fifty of this season in IPL. Rohit has made quite a comeback in this half as he had relatively slow innings scoring only 56 runs in the first five games, but he then aggregated 234 runs in his last five innings with two not-out fifties and the 53 against Rajasthan.

Mumbai Indians made a huge 217/2 score. Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton got off to a fiery start, before Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya finished off in style. Rohit and Rickelton raced to 50 runs in just over five overs and ended the powerplay at 58 runs without losing a wicket. Rickelton was the first to bring up his half-century, scoring 61 in 38 deliveries, followed by Rohit, who took 31 balls.

They built a solid 116-run partnership for the first wicket before Maheesh Theekshana broke through by getting rid of Rickelton. Rohit followed not long after, but Suryakumar and Hardik collaborated to post 94 runs together without losing their wicket, both ending with 48 runs in 23 deliveries. Suryakumar finished off the innings with a six off the last ball. Only Theekshana and Parag took wickets as the Royals find themselves in dire straits now.
