Rohit Sharma has created history by becoming the sixth Indian batter to complete 17,000 international cricket runs during the fourth Test between India and Australia. Rohit Sharma, playing his 438th international match, needed 21 runs to complete 17000 runs before this match. He remained unbeaten on 17 runs till the end of the second day’s play at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and joined the elite club by scoring four more runs in the first session of the third day’s play.
Before Rohit Sharma, India’s greatest batter Sachin Tendulkar, former captain Virat Kohli, head coach Rahul Dravid, former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, and former Wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni scored 17000 or more runs in International Cricket.
Rohit Sharma has also become the second batter to score India’s fastest 2000 Test runs. He crossed the 2000 Test runs mark in 36 innings. But he failed to score big in this innings. Team India was expecting big innings from skipper Rohit Sharma, but he lost his wicket after scoring 35 runs in 58 balls. In this innings, 3 fours and 1 six were seen from his bat.
