Indian team is all set to play two test match series against Bangladesh, and the opening encounter clash of the series will start on 14th Dec 2022. In this series, the Indian team updated its whole squad because of injuries to some key players like Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mohammad Shami. Indian team management will try their best and still hoping that Rohit Sharma will be back in the second test match against Bangladesh because looking forward to World Test Championship 2021-23 Indian team must have to win both test matches anyhow. But the absence of Jadeja and Shami from the test squad has weakened their bowling attack, but still, they have the bowlers who can take 20 wickets against any opponent.
Speaking on this, Indian former cricketer Mohammad Kaif stated that the injury of Rohit Sharma made the job of head coach Rahul Dravid easy. He also praised the captaincy role of Rohit Sharma, but he confirmed that Gill and KL would open for the first test match.
“If Rohit was there, they would have struggled to pick the top two because Shubman Gill is there and KL Rahul is there. Now that Rohit Sharma is not there, we are sorted, then we can have GIll and Rahul opening for the first Test. No.3 will be Pujara, four will be Virat Kohli, five Shreyas Iyer, six Rishabh Pant and then five bowlers with Ashwin and the others coming in. Since Rohit is not there, selection will become a bit easier for Dravid,” Kaif said.
After this, he was asked whether Rohit was the right choice as Kohli’s replacement for India’s captaincy role. Kaif explained that Rohit had done well at home and overseas but not winning the ICC trophy is a disappointment for us, although he is good.
“Rohit has done well since he became captain. Apart from the big multi-nation events like Asia Cup and World Cup. It was the same with Virat. When he was the captain, he was winning all bilaterals so when Rohit became captain people thought we need to win ICC events as there were no trophies. That’s why people are disappointed. But overall, his record is good.” Kaif further added.

Although Abhimanyu Easwaran is included in the team as the replacement for Rohit Sharma, his performance against Bangladesh A was exceptionally well. He scored two hundred in a four-day game against Bangladesh A.
