Rohit And Virat Kohli Should Play In 2024 T20I World Cup Or Not? Wasim Akram Gives His Verdict

After the conclusion of the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup, the decision on the future of Virat Kohli and Indian skipper Rohit Sharma regarding their prospects with the Indian T20I team will be decided very soon. But now according to an official report, the BCCI has given an open hand to both the players so that they can decide their destiny on their own.

After the 2022 T20 World Cup, Rohit Sharma has shown his absence from India’s T20 team and Hardik Pandya has led the team for the most number of times.

In August of this year, Rohit Sharma conveyed his enthusiasm for the T20 World Cup 2024 while inaugurating the CricKingdom Academy in the United States. Some speculate that his remarks may offer insight into his potential participation in the tournament.

Meanwhile, the former Pakistan veteran Wasim Akram has said that he will pick both Kohli and Rohit for the upcoming T20I World Cup set to happen in the USA and West Indies.

The former legend said,”The T20 World Cup is just a few months away. I will pick both. They will be the main players for India, no doubt about it. You need a little bit of experience in T20. You cannot solely rely on young guys.”

Rohit Sharma has an outstanding T20I track record, accumulating 3853 runs in 148 matches with a striking rate of almost 140. Rohit Sharma has four centuries and 29 half-centuries to his name. On the other hand, Virat Kohli, boasting 4008 runs in 115 games, holds the distinction of being the highest run-scorer in the history of T20 Internationals. Kohli has one century and 37 half-centuries.
