Rohan Jaitley has been elected as president for yet a different term of Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) by beating former India player Kirti Azad. The 35-year-old Jaitley, son of former Union Minister late Arun Jaitley, secured votes of 1,577 to Azad’s 777 in the contest for the crucial position. There were a total of 2,413 casts of votes for and 1,207 votes were necessary to win the battle. Rohan Jaitley in 2020 was elected unopposed as the president of DDCA and a year later, he defeated advocate Vikas Singh.
Shikha Kumar (1,246 votes), daughter of former acting BCCI president CK Khanna, overcame Rakesh Kumar Bansal (536) and Sudhir Kumar Agarwal (498) to capture the vice-president’s post.
Ashok Sharma (893) became the secretary, while Harish Singla (1328) was elected for the treasurer’s post and Amit Grover (1189) won the joint secretary position.
Anand Verma (985), Manjit Singh (1050), Navdeep M (1034), Shyam Sharma (1165), Tushar Saigal (926), Vikas Katyal (1054), Vikram Kohli (939) and others were picked for the directors’ post.
Azad, a member of India’s world cup winning team of 1983, currently is an MP from the Bardhaman-Durgapur constituency in Trinamool Congress and charges the DDCA with various types of corruption.
Late Arun Jaitley was the longest DDCA president for 14 years
