Robin Uthappa Names The Future Captain Of Team India After The Retirement Of Rohit Sharma

Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa has been named the future skipper of team India after the retirement of Rohit Sharma. Uthappa mentioned on Sunday that Shubman Gill could become the captain of the Indian team soon.

Uthappa’s statement came after Gill scored 35 runs and contributed to Gujarat Titans’ victory over Punjab Kings in a low-scoring match at the Mullanpur Cricket Stadium.

Ultimately, GT secured the win in Mullanpur with a crucial 35 runs scored by Gill. Gill became Gujarat’s captain before the season began and he has guided the team to four wins so far.

After Gujarat Titans won the match by three wickets, Uthappa praised Shubman Gill as an important player for Indian cricket, saying that the talented batsman is becoming a great player. Uthappa, speaking on Jio Cinema, also mentioned Gill’s improvement as a strong leader, indicating that he could lead the national team in the future.

“Yeah, I think he’s a gift for Indian cricket. I think he’s someone who’s maturing into an all-time great within the Indian cricket fraternity. And I think, we’ve seen him thrive, and we’re seeing him grow into a very prolific leader who is going to lead not just his IPL side, but I also think the Indian team in the near future,” Uthappa said on Gill.

In the captaincy of Shubman Gill, Gujarat Titans won the fourth match of the season against Punjab Kings where they beat the hosts by three wickets.
