Riyan Parag’s Historic Feat: Going Beyond Rohit Sharma

The IPL 2024 has been the season of uncapped Indians, as they have grabbed the opportunity to make a name for themselves. Out of many uncapped Indians, one player who has risen to prominence in this year’s IPL is Riyan Parag.

Riyan Parag has been in splendid form in this year’s IPL. He has been one of the major reasons behind the Rajasthan Royals making their way into the knockout stages of the tournament. Riyan even played a crucial knock of 36 runs, helping Rajasthan beat Royal Challengers Bangaluru in the eliminator.

With his knock of 36 runs, Riyan has now amassed 567 runs in the ongoing IPL season. He has been the third-highest run-getter in the tournament. Riyan Parag has a record four fifties in the ongoing IPL season and has a phenomenal average of 56.7. Riyan Parag has also registered another massive feat in the IPL as he went past Rohit Sharma in terms of scoring runs, who was the second highest run getter while batting at number 4 or below in the IPL season.

Rohit Sharma had scored 538 runs in the IPL 2013 season. He was overtaken by Rishabh Pant, who had a stealthy performance in the IPL 2019 by scoring 579 runs. Parag has already surpassed Rohit Sharma and is now only 13 runs away from creating an all-time record for scoring the most number of runs in an IPL season at number 4 or below.

Dinesh Karthik (KKR) (498 in 2018)

This has been a complete turnaround for the young batter of the Rajasthan Royals, who was struggling to make a mark in the IPL before this season. However, Riyan Parag has made the most use of the opportunity and has batted with a lot of composure and intent. He will be looking to help his side win the tournament.
