Riyan Parag put on a magnificent exhibition on 4th May at the IPL 2025 game between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. Batting at number four, he scored 95 runs off 45 balls, including six fours and eight sixes; along the way, he also made history by being the first to hit six consecutive sixes in IPL matches. Parag led the side in the absence of Sanju Samson.
In the 13th over, he smashed five sixes in a row on Moeen Ali. Then, another six came on the second ball of the 14th over off the bowling of Varun Chakaravarthy. While five players have hit five sixes consecutively, Parag is the only one with six consecutively. Also, Yuvraj Singh, Kieron Pollard, and Dipendra Singh Airee have hit six sixes in an over during T20I matches, yet no one has done so in an IPL game.
Despite Parag playing magnificently, Rajasthan Royals went down to Kolkata Knight Riders by a solitary run. That was RR’s ninth loss this season, with six points from twelve matches, making them eighth in the IPL points table. An accurate bowling effort was witnessed as the wickets were shared between KKR bowlers- Harshit Rana, Moeen Ali, and Varun Chakaravarthy taking two wickets each, while Vaibhav Arora returned with one wicket. Parag was dismissed in the crucial 18th over while trying for another big shot, bowled by Rana.
