Star Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh pant responded to his fans, which included a question in relation to his teammate Jasprit Bumrah: one word to describe him. The 27-year-old cricketer has played his last series with India in the recently finished five-match Test series against Australia and has reserved his highest praise for the 31-year-old fast bowler by declaring him “GOAT”.
Number 1 in the ICC Test bowler’s rankings, Bumrah was at the golden touch during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. His five outings accounted for the departure of 32 batters-a record for any Indian in the series against Australia on an away tour.
For his stellar performance, which included making him India’s all-time leading Test wicket-taker in SENA countries and the co-highest wicket-taker in one edition of The Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah was named Player of the Series.
He is expected to be bagged in India’s squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which BCCI is expected to announce soon. There are questions over Bumrah because of his back injury. Due to his back spasm, the star bowler did not step onto the field for the second innings of the Sydney Test against Australia.
In the #AskRP segment, Pant answered a question from former England captain Michael Vaughan, “Do you think England will win the Ashes this year?” and replied, “The team that plays better cricket will win.”
Australia is slated to host England for the 2025-26 Ashes, and the Poms this time will be looking forward to quenching their thirst for success in Australia after a gap of 15 years.
The 27-year-old cricketer from Roorkee, the most expensive player in IPL history last year after winning a contract worth Rs 27 crore from Lucknow Super Giants in the optional IPL 2025 mega-auction was asked to name one Indian cricketer from the past with whom he would have loved to play, and he said Virender Sehwag.
