Rishabh Pant, the captain of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), has been fined due to his team’s slow over-rate during a match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2025. This happened at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Tuesday.
Since it was LSG’s third offence this season under the IPL’s rules about over-rate, Pant received a fine of 30 Lakh. The other players in the team, including the Impact Player, each got fined 12 Lakh or half of their match fees, whichever was lower.
In terms of the match itself, Lucknow lost to RCB by six runs, marking a disappointing end to their IPL 2025 season in front of their home crowd. They had five wins in eight games but only managed one win out of their last six matches, which knocked them out of playoff contention.
Meanwhile, stand-in RCB captain Jitesh Sharma had an outstanding performance, leading his team to victory over Lucknow with a six-wicket win in the last group stage match of the season.
