Chennai Super Kings newly appointed skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad, has now spilled the beans on the chat that he had with RCB’s skipper, Faf du Plessis.
The opening clash of this season will see two of the best friends off the field taking on each other. Faf du Plessis was one of the protagonists of CSK’s fourth title triumph in 2021.
In his interaction with IPL, Ruturaj Gaikwad told about the chat he had with Faf du Plessis.
Gaikwad said, “I just met Faf (du Plessis) in the meeting, and I said, ‘Who would have thought a few years down the line, you playing for RCB, you leading RCB, and you and me sharing the stage as a toss?”
“So much to look forward to. And I think it is one of the most exciting first-day games to look forward to.”
Gaikwad also spoke about the trust that he got from CSK’s skipper upon being appointed as the new captain of the side. Gaikwad said that he is quite excited for this new challenge, and it feels awesome to have gained the trust of Ms. Dhoni.
Speaking about the same, Ruturaj Gaikwad said, “It feels great, I think, for two reasons. First of all, to be part of such a wonderful franchise, right from the start of my IPL journey, and to be able to be trusted by MS Dhoni for a leadership role. Obviously, that says a lot. Obviously, the challenge lies ahead. So looking forward to it.”
