Resting Bumrah: A Tactical Move or Necessity?

Team India defeated England in the third test match by a huge margin of 434 runs, which was being played in Rajkot. After this victory over England, India have taken a 2-1 lead in the five-match test series.

However, ahead of the fourth test match of the series, which is scheduled to be played in Ranchi, team India has decided to rest team India’s pace sensation Jasprit Bumrah for the fourth test match.

Jasprit Bumrah has played the first three test matches of the series, and he has been in good form, picking up wickets for India whenever needed.

Even when team India played their second game of the series, Jasprit Bumrah delivered a match-winning performance, picking up nine wickets in the match, helping India win their second test match of the series by a huge margin of 106 runs after team India’s loss against the visitors by 28 runs in the first game of the series, which was being played in Hyderabad.

Bumrah has been part of all the test matches that India played after the 2023 World Cup, be it against South Africa or England. So far in the ongoing test series, Bumrah has bowled more than 80 overs in six innings.

Bumrah is likely to be replaced by a fourth spinner, or Mukesh Kumar, in the fourth test match. Mukesh was recently seen playing a Ranji Trophy game in which he picked up 10 wickets for Bangal.

The fourth test match of the series is set to start on February 23, with the final match of the series going to start on March 7 in Dharamshala.
