Reports: Rahul Dravid In Talks With An IPL Team For 2 Year Contract

The cricketing world is abuzz with reports that former India captain Rahul Dravid has decided not to continue as Team India’s head coach after the expiration of his contract. Dravid’s coaching time concluded with India’s campaign in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

India’s stellar run in the World Cup, where they won all nine league games and the semifinal, placed them as the most dominant side in the tournament. Speculations arose that the BCCI might extend Rahul Dravid’s contract to acknowledge the team’s success.

According to reports in The Times of India, the legendary batsman is not inclined to continue as a full-time coach due to his desire to spend more time with his family. The report suggests that Dravid is open to taking on the National Cricket Academy (NCA) head role, a position he has previously served in. This would enable him to stay in his hometown, Bengaluru, and strike a balance between professional and personal commitments.

“He’s fine with a role at the NCA as the head there (a role he previously served in), which will allow him to stay back in his hometown Bengaluru. Like earlier, he’s fine with coaching the team sporadically, but not again as a full-time coach,” a source told the news outlet.

After coaching Team India for two years, Rahul Dravid is now setting his sights on a new venture in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Reports suggest that the former India skipper is in talks with an IPL team for a significant two-year coaching contract. This move signifies Dravid’s interest in exploring different coaching avenues and contributing to the dynamic T20 format.

“He’s in talks with an IPL team for a big two-year contract,” the source revealed.

Rahul Dravid is no stranger to coaching in the IPL, having played the roles of both coach and mentor with the Rajasthan Royals. His understanding of the T20 format and mentoring capabilities make him a sought-after figure in the league. If the discussions materialize, it would mark a new chapter in Dravid’s coaching journey, bringing his expertise to the high-octane world of IPL cricket.
