Records broken by Rohit Sharma in 2025

CRIC Informer

In the year 2025, former Indian captain Rohit Sharma reaped the rewards of his decision to retire from Tests and had an exciting career in ODIs where he was the leading player in the Champions Trophy and helped India to win the second ICC trophy in a row after the T20 World Cup victory.

Despite his greatness in the one-day format, Rohit’s position in the team was put to the test, but the past captain made it clear what his level was by securing many records not just in ODIs but also in the IPL through his batting. Below is a compilation of all the records set by Rohit in 2025 across the three formats (ODIs, IPL).

4th captain to be crowned the Player of the Match in ICC finals

This year he went through a lot of ups and downs in the Champions Trophy, however the Rohit of old came back in the finals against New Zealand. India had a challenging target of 252 to win the tournament and Rohit laid his claim to the title with a brilliant 76 off 83 and consequently the Indian team’s victory of the Champions Trophy. For his contribution, the right-handed batter was given the Player of the Match award and he became only the fourth captain to be awarded the Player of the Match in an ICC final.

2nd captain to win ICC titles in both ODI and T20I formats

Rohit led team India to a historic second T20 world cup title 2024, and it was followed by the champions trophy win in March 2025. Thus he became the second captain only after MS Dhoni, to take home ICC trophies in both ODI and T20I formats.

Becoming the 3rd Indian with 50 international tons

Rohit did not score in the first ODI against Australia in October, but he answered with a fifty in the second ODI and a dazzling ton in a chase at SCG. Besides that century, he was just the third Indian after Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli to get 50 at the international level.

Most ODI centuries in Australia

In the run-up to his century at the SCG against Australia Rohit Sharma went past Virat Kohli and Kumar Sangakkara in the visiting batter with the most ODI centuries, Down Under. The trio had 5 centuries each in Australia, but Rohit surpassed Kohli and Sangakkara after his ton at SCG.

Batter with most sixes in ODIs

A great series in Australia, Rohit, then, continued his good run during the home series against South Africa and, in the course of the South African tour, he went past Shahid Afridi to become the batter with the most sixes in ODI history. Rohit has hit 355 sixes, while Afridi had 351.
