Record Alert: R Ashwin Breaks The Record Of Anil Kumble, Joins The Elite List Of Bowlers

Star India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has got another milestone after his phenomenal bowling in the second innings of the fourth Test being played in Ranchi. Ashwin helped India to bundle out England at a low score by grabbing five wickets at the expense of 51 runs in 15.5 overs.

With this, Ashwin has now reached the fourth position in terms of taking the most five-wicket haul in Test Cricket. Ashwin has achieved this feat 35 times in Test cricket and he shares this milestone along with the former Indian legendary leg spinner Anil Kumble.

The number one position in this record has been held by the former legendary Sri Lankan off-spinner Muttiah Murlitharan. The veteran has done this feat 67 times. Shane Warne stood in second position with 37 five-wickets hauls.

Not only this, but Ashwin now also holds the record for getting the maximum wickets on Indian soil. Ashwin has 354 wickets in India, and with that, he has broken the record of Anil Kumble who has 350 wickets in the country.

In this match, India has got a target of 192 runs after bundling out England at 145 runs in the second innings. The hosts currently stand at 40 without loss with Rohit Sharma(24) and Yashasvi Jaiswal(16) holding the command.
