Record Alert: Mitchell Starc Equals The Massive Record Of Shahid Afridi, Brett Lee; Stands Behind Only Waqar Younis and Murlitharan

The second ODI between India and Australia is being played at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam. Indian captain Rohit Sharma. Australian captain Steve Smith won the toss and elected to bowl first and they bundled out India on just 117 runs in just 26 overs.

The credit for Australia’s brilliant performance in bowling goes to Mitchell Starc. Starc got 5 wickets and emerged as the star of the first innings with his teammates Sean Abbott who got three wickets and Nathan Ellis who managed to grab two wickets.

This was Starc’s 9th 5-wicket haul in ODIs and during this, he equalled his compatriot Brett Lee and Pakistan former captain Shahid Afridi, who also have the same number of 5-wicket hauls.

Waqar Younis who is addressed as one of the legends of fast bowling has the record for the most number of 5-wicket hauls in history. He has achieved this feat 13 times in 262 matches. The second on this list is former Sri Lankan spin giant Muttiah Murlitharan who has done this feat 10 times.

The first ODI between India and Australia was played at Wankhede Cricket Stadium on 17th March in which India won the match by 5 wickets.
