In the 70th match of IPL 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore came to bat first after losing the toss. The star batter of the team, Virat Kohli showed his masterclass once again and hit a brilliant century(101) in just 61 balls.
With this century, Virat Kohli established many notable milestones. Just after getting the century, Kohli became the batter with the most centuries in the history of IPL. The RCB batter has now seven centuries to his name and during this he surpassed the West Indian legend Chris Gayle who has smashed 6 centuries in this cash-rich league.
Apart from it, Kohli became the third player after Shikhar Dhawan and Jos Buttler to hit two back to back centuries. In 2020, the opener of Punjab Kings Shikhar Dhawan scored 2 consecutive tons. In 2021, the Rajasthan Royals opener Jos Buttler repeated the same indenture.
Counting the number of centuries by Kohli on the different venues, he has got four out of seven in Bangalore at Chinnaswamy. The other three tons came in Rajkot, Kolkata and Hyderabad. The most interesting part is that Virat has smashed all these hundreds while batting as the opener of the team.
On the back of Kohli’s hundred, RCB don 197 runs on the board at the loss of five wickets.
