Record Alert: Hasaranga Clinches A Humongous Feat, Becomes The 2nd Bowler In ODI History To Create This Euphoria After Waqar Younis

The star leg spinner of the Sri Lankan cricket team Wanindu Hasaranga has achieved a humongous feat and he became the only second bowler in ODI cricket history to achieve this remarkable milestone. He has joined the former Pakistan legendary pacer Waqar Younis to become the bowler with the most consecutive five-wicket hauls in 50-over cricket. Hasaranga got three back-to-back fifers in ODI cricket and in the last match, he helped his team to win the match against Ireland by a massive 133 runs.

Waqar Younis achieved this milestone in 1990. The first he got against New Zealand(5/11), the second came against the Kiwis(5/16) as well and in the third game, he demolished the West Indies(5/52). Before the match against Ireland where Hasaranga got five wickets for 79 runs, he took six wickets for 24 runs against UAE, and then against Oman he grabbed five with an expense of 13 runs.

While batting first, the Sri Lankan cricket team posted a huge total of 325 runs in 49.5 overs. For the team, Dimuth Karunaratne scored the maximum 103 runs with the help of eight fours, Samarawickrama also contributed with 82 runs.

While chasing the target of 326 runs, Ireland’s batters found Hasaranga unplayable and kept losing wickets. Their innings ended at 192 runs at the loss of 10 wickets in 31 overs.

For Sri Lanka, Hasaranga got five wickets, while the other spinner Maheesh Theekshana managed to get two wickets.
