In the first T20 International match against India, Ireland batted first and managed to score 139 runs at the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. For Ireland, Barry McCarthy got a splendid hundred. This achievement also marked him as the first Irish cricketer to score a half-century against India in T20Is.

McCarthy came to bat at number eight, he led Ireland to a respectable score. He completed his first half-century by hitting a six off the final delivery of the last over bowled by Arshdeep Singh. His innings came in the form of an impressive 51 runs off 33 balls which includes 4 boundaries and 4 sixes.
