Pacer Yash Dayal of RCB disclosed that he had a talk with his mother immediately following his brilliant final over against CSK on May 19, which was essential to his team’s resounding qualification for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 playoffs. Dayal disclosed that he had called his mother to inquire about her well-being, given his knowledge of her high level of anxiety during the match’s pivotal final over. Faf du Plessis, the captain of RCB, gave Dayal the job of guarding 17 runs against MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja of CSK in the decisive and last over.
The 26-year-old was given a scare early on when Dhoni hit the opening ball of his over for a 110-meter six. Dayal later disclosed that this had caused him to have terrible flashbacks of his dreadful over against Rinku Singh of KKR during the 2023 IPL. Dayal, who was part of GT’s bowling attack the previous season, took a lot of flak and vilification for failing to hold 28 runs against KKR after Rinku Singh struck him for five consecutive sixes. But Dayal rejected all that chatter, and he did so emphatically with his game-winning final over against CSK.
Kaisa feel kar rahi ho (how are you feeling, mom?),” Dayal’s first words to his mother on call after the big final over
Speaking with PTI following RCB’s play-off qualification, Dayal shared his thoughts with his family and provided an overview of all the feelings he experienced throughout the suspenseful last over. “That terrifying dream of last season started to haunt me when Dhoni hit that 110-meter six off the first ball,” Dayal remarked. “Woh darawana sapna fir se aa raha tha jab Dhoni ne pehli ball pe sixer mara.”
However, I had a gut feeling that this time, positive things would happen. All the credit goes to him; his hard work has paid off. God has shown kindness. Dayal continued.
After a terrible start to the season, RCB has secured a spot in the IPL 2024 Eliminator match. They will be seeking to build on their winning momentum and continue their remarkable comeback.
