In IPL 2023, a cricketer’s shameful act created an uproar, soon after which the BCCI came into action. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opening batsman Jason Roy did something on the mid-field during the IPL match played against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Wednesday, immediately after which the BCCI punished him heavily. A mistake made in anger by Jason Roy outshined him, and this batsman has been fined 10 per cent of the match fee.
The IPL issued a press release, “Jason Roy has been fined for breaching Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct. Jason Roy has accepted a Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the decision of the Match Referee is final and binding. Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct deals with the misuse of cricket equipment, clothing, and ground equipment during the match.”
Vijaykumar Vaishak bowled Jason in the 10th over of the Kolkata Knight Riders innings. After this, Roy showed his anger while returning to the pavilion and tossed the bat in the air. Action has been taken against him for this behavior.
Jason Roy shared an 83-run partnership with Narayan Jagadishan for the first wicket in the match. This was KKR’s biggest partnership for the first wicket this season. On this foundation, KKR scored 200 runs. Captain Nitish Rana also scored 48 runs in 21 balls.
Kolkata Knight Riders broke the order of four consecutive defeats by defeating RCB by 21 runs in the IPL on Wednesday due to the excellent performance of the bowlers after opener Jason Roy’s half-century and captain Nitish Rana’s flamboyant innings. Chasing Kolkata Knight Riders’ target of 201 runs, RCB’s team could only manage 179 runs for eight wickets despite a half-century by captain Virat Kohli (54 runs in 37 balls, six fours). Apart from them, only Mahipal Lomror (34) and Dinesh Karthik (22) could cross the 20-run mark.
