Ravindra Jadeja drops a massive bombshell on getting snubbed as CSK captain

Ravindra Jadeja finally talked about being removed as the captain of the Chennai Super Kings during the 2022 IPL season. Three years back, he was chosen to lead CSK after the legendary MS Dhoni stepped down. It didn’t go well, though, as the team lost their first four matches and found themselves at the bottom of the table. After eight games, they decided to bring Dhoni back as captain, but it didn’t turn things around, and they ended up missing the playoffs.

After that season, there were rumors about issues between Jadeja and CSK, and some even speculated that he might leave the team. But those rumors were put to rest when he played for CSK in 2023 and helped them win their fifth title with a key performance in the final against Gujarat Titans.

Fast forward three years, Jadeja joined his teammate Ravichandran Ashwin on a podcast and shared his thoughts on the whole situation. It was tough. In T20 cricket, every ball matters. It’s a quick game, but it was a learning experience for me. I felt I could have done better. When the team struggles, the captain gets all the blame—decisions on bowling changes and field placements fall on your shoulders. Unfortunately, we weren’t doing well. If we were winning and everyone was playing their part, it wouldn’t have been so difficult, he said on Ashwin’s YouTube channel, ‘Kutti Stories With Ash.’

He added that in T20 matches, it’s vital for the captain to mix up the batting order to keep the momentum going. At times, I thought about it, but then it hit me that if batters and bowlers aren’t delivering, everything seems bleak. When you perform well, everything looks good. This approach worked. In T20, switching up the batting order is important, Jadeja explained.
