Sunil Narine was a key player in the match, as he didn’t give away a single boundary in his impressive bowling figures of 3 wickets for just 13 runs. The Kolkata bowlers worked together seamlessly, ensuring that CSK couldn’t find their rhythm and ending up with a total that was far from what they would have hoped for – 103/9 at MA Chidambaram Stadium was a real disappointment for the home side.
On a pitch often favorable to spin, KKR’s bowlers took charge right away. Narine partnered well with Varun Chakaravarthy and Moeen Ali, who collectively claimed six wickets. It looked like KKR might capture another wicket when Vijay Shankar was dropped by Moeen at mid-off without scoring. Shankar took advantage of this second chance, hitting boundaries off Chakaravarthy and a six over mid-wicket off Moeen. His luck continued when Venkatesh Iyer also misfired and dropped him at mid-wicket when he was on 20.
