Ravi Shastri Names The Replacement Of ‘Captain Rohit Sharma’ After 2023 ODI World Cup

The 50-over World Cup is all set to be played in India in the month of October-November but before it, a lot of discussion is happening regarding the team selection and also regarding the future of team India after the 2023 ODI World Cup. Players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are standing in the last stage of their careers and therefore selectors are looking for a better replacement of these players.

Meanwhile, the former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri has come up with an interesting conclusion and said that after the 2023 ODI World Cup, Hardik Pandya should be assigned as the full-fledged captain of the side as the replacement for Rohit Sharma. Hardik Pandya is already captaining India in the T20Is and now Shastri has demanded to hand over him the ODI captaincy as well.

“After the World Cup, I feel he should take over captaincy in white-ball cricket. Rohit should lead India in the World Cup, no question there,” Shastri said to The Week.

Indian Cricket fans and former Indians are disappointed with the captaincy of Rohit Sharma after he failed to win two back-to-back ICC events. On one side India lost to England in the semi-final of T20 and then in the recently concluded ICC Test Championship final, Australia beat India by a huge margin of 209 runs at Edgbaston.

Hardik Pandya has impressed everyone with his captaincy and in the Indian Premier League, his team Gujarat Titans has reached the final for the second consecutive time. In IPL 2022, he led to win Gujarat the Title in their first venture only.
