Former Indian skipper and opener Sunil Gavaskar was all praise for Gujarat Titans spin magician Rashid Khan as he compared Rashid Khan alongside Ben Stokes.
Rashid Khan had a phenomenal outing against the Rajasthan Royals, both with bat and ball, as he dismissed Jos Buttler, giving away just 18 runs from his four overs. Apart from that, Rashid Khan also played a vital role in batting, scoring 24* of 11 and helping his side clinch a victory over the Rajasthan Royals.
After Khan’s performance, Gavaskar went all praise for him regarding his batting, bowling, and fielding. Gavaskar said that Rashid Khan gives his 100% when he’s on the field.
In his interaction with Star Sports, Gavaskar said, “Rashid did pick the wickets like he usually does; when it was needed with the bat, he came in and delivered. And this is the reason why he is such a sought-after player by franchises all over the world. They want him because they see his commitment to batting, bowling, and fielding. Look at the way he gives everything while he is fielding. Bowlers sometimes can be a little bit concerned about diving on their bowling shoulder because if they dislocate the shoulder, then their careers are in danger, not with Rashid Khan. Rashid wants to give 100% to the team.”
Gavaskar also spoke about England’s test skipper Ben Stokes, who is regarded as the best all-rounder of modern-day cricket with regard to his match-winning abilities with both bat and ball.
Speaking about the same, Gavaskar said, “There is another cricketer who’s not playing in this IPL. Something similar, Ben Stokes. Anytime you see Ben Stokes batting, bowling, or fielding, he’s 100%. He gives it everything, and, you know, those are the cricketers that coaches and captains want. They might not always deliver. But you know that the percent of the effort is never going to be anything less than 100%.”
The Gujarat Titans became the first team to defeat the Rajasthan Royals. With this victory, they now move to number 6 in the points table.
