Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) lost to Mumbai Indians by eight wickets in the IPL 2025 at Wankhede Stadium on Monday. Ramandeep Singh had a quick 22 runs off 12 balls, Angkrish Raghuvanshi scored 26 off 16, and Andre Russell made some impacts too, but it wasn’t enough as MI chased down the target of 117.
In the post-match press conference, KKR all-rounder Ramandeep Singh talked about the loss honestly. He said, Any team can have a tough day. It lets the lower order step up, but we just didn’t have the luck tonight. We’ll work hard to avoid being in this situation again in the tournament.
He also discussed the team’s bold batting strategy and how they can learn from this game. We trust our players to play their way. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, but it’s crucial for us to support them so they can give it their all, Ramandeep explained.
He admitted that building partnerships is key, but remarked that if Angkrish and Rinku had found success, they would have been praised too. It’s just one of those days. We always learn something after each match, he added.
Looking at the conditions, Ramandeep felt winning the toss was a big deal. It was good for MI to win the toss. They had the upper hand, especially since the new ball was moving and the spinners had some help too. But we can’t blame that; we need to be ready for anything, he said.
The pitch today required you to settle in before going for big shots. Normally, that’s not how it goes, but today was different, he concluded. KKR will be looking to bounce back when they face Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens on April 3.
