Rajeev Shukla congratulates MS Dhoni for getting inducted in ICC Hall of Fame

BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla praised former India captain MS Dhoni after he was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame during a ceremony in London on Monday. Dhoni became the 11th Indian player to receive this honor, joining legends like Sunil Gavaskar and Virender Sehwag.

In a post on X (previously Twitter), Shukla congratulated Dhoni, saying, From the streets of Ranchi to the ICC Hall of Fame, what a journey. MS Dhoni’s story is a great example of hard work and success. A small-town guy who made cricket history and won a billion hearts. Congrats to MS Dhoni on this well-deserved recognition.

Dhoni holds the record as India’s most successful captain, having led the team to victories in the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy. He also changed the game for wicketkeepers in ODIs, with his highest score of 183* still standing.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah spoke about this year’s Hall of Fame inductees, saying, The ICC Hall of Fame celebrates the best players in the game—those whose careers have left a mark on cricket and inspired generations. He added, This year, we are lucky to induct seven outstanding individuals into this prestigious group. On behalf of the ICC, I congratulate each of them and hope they enjoy this well-earned recognition as a key moment in their cricketing journey.

Dhoni, reflecting on this honor, shared, “It’s a privilege to be named in the ICC Hall of Fame, which honors cricketers from all over the world. To have my name remembered alongside such greats is an amazing feeling—something I will always treasure.”
