After RCB’s win against Punjab Kings in Qualifier One, skipper Rajat Patidar praised his bowlers, especially Suyash Sharma, saying he trusts him even if he gives up some runs. RCB made it to their fourth IPL final by comfortably beating PBKS by eight wickets in Mullanpur.
In the post-match chat, Patidar shared, We had a clear plan for our bowling. The fast bowlers really made the most of the pitch. Suyash bowled really well with good lines and lengths. As his captain, I want him to focus on hitting the stumps, which is his strength. His wrong ‘un is tough for batters to figure out. I like to keep things simple for him; it’s fine if he gives up a few runs.
He also praised Phil Salt’s performance, saying, He’s been solid in a lot of matches, giving us great starts. I really enjoy watching him play from the dugout. After opting to bowl first, PBKS struggled early, finding themselves at 48/4 in the powerplay, thanks to Bhuvneshwar, Hazlewood, and Yash. Marcus Stoinis and Azmatullah Omarzai managed to bring PBKS to 101 after 14.1 overs. Suyash Sharma took 3/17 and Josh Hazlewood got 3/21, with Yash Dayal taking 2/26.
In their chase, RCB lost Kohli and Agarwal early, but Phil Salt’s explosive 56 off 27 balls, along with Patidar’s steady 15*, led RCB to a convincing win in just 10 overs. Suyash was named ‘Player of the Match’ for his efforts. RCB is headed to the finals, while PBKS will have another chance to compete in the eliminator against either Mumbai Indians or Gujarat Titans on June 1 in Ahmedabad.
