‘Rajasthan Royals Owner Slapped Me As…”, Ross Taylor Made A Shocking Exposure

Former New Zealand captain and star batter Ross Taylor released his autobiography – “Ross Taylor: Black And White” a few weeks ago. This autobiography has revealed so much of his cricketing career and in and out of this gentleman’s game.

Few days back a news came that Taylor who comes Samoan heritage has faced so much of racial abuse and criticism from his own New Zealand team’s officials.

Now another chapter has been released on New Zealand’s website stuff.co.nz, in which Taylor has revealed some shocking incidents about his former IPL team Rajasthan Royals and the team owner.

Taylor, who was part of Rajasthan Royals in the year 2011 said that one of the owners of Rajasthan has slapped him. The ‘slap’ incident happened when Taylor was dismissed on zero during a game against Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). The former kiwi batsman has said that the owner used to give some harsh words. The owner used to say that if they have given a lot of money in the auction then he need to perform for the team.

The revelation read, “When you fetch that sort of money, you’re desperately keen to prove that you’re worth it. And those who are paying you that sort of money have high expectations – that’s professional sport and human nature. I’d paid my dues at RCB: if I’d had a lean trot, the management would have had faith in me because of what I’d done in the past. When you go to a new team, you don’t get that backing. You never feel comfortable because you know that if you go two or three games without a score, you come under cold-eyed scrutiny.”

Taylor further wrote,”A case in point: Rajasthan played Kings XI Punjab in Mohali. The chase was 195, I was lbw for a duck and we didn’t get close. Afterwards, the team, support staff and management were in the bar on the top floor of the hotel. Liz Hurley was there with Warnie. One of the Royals owners said to me, ‘Ross, we didn’t pay you a million dollars to get a duck’ and slapped me across the face three or four times.”

The former New Zealand cricketer however revealed that it wasn’t a hard slap though but it was so awful seeing such stuff at professional cricket.
