Head coach Rahul Dravid on Wednesday raised eyebrows at the poor form of the Rajasthan Royals after they were left trailing eighth in the IPL points table and said “it is very disappointing that the play hasn’t changed a notch. “Royal’s next game is away to a challenger – the Royal Challengers Bengaluru – at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday and another loss would sour their chances of making the playoffs.
Dravid described the game on Saturday as a “crucial one” in a pre-match press conference. “Every match from this point onwards has to be important, ” he said. “You can’t afford to make many mistakes, right now because we’re at the bottom of the table and there’s a point in every game. “
But Dravid acknowledged the Royals have also been hampered by their play in the closer fixture despite having done their best at times, “we need to step up if we really want to keep going, ” he said. “We have played some games in the tighter stuff, but we have also performed good. “Some times it is just a few critical moments that change the outcome. So we need to perform at those crucial moments and that has not come so far. “
Dravid also spoke on the pitch, which has been favoured by bowlers in the IPL this season at Chinnaswamy Stadium, hoping it will change this time and asked his team to do their best regardless of the pitch’s conditions. “It’s a matter of individual tastes as well.
