With Shardul Thakur not performing well with the bat and only taking two wickets late in the match, some former players think they should drop him for Nitish Reddy, who did well during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. “Nitish had a solid time in Australia and did okay in the IPL. But he didn’t play in the top order; he batted lower down. Would you really put him in as a top six batter in England? I wouldn’t. Making too many changes sends the wrong message. The batting was decent in the first Test, so I’d keep it as is and just change one bowler.”
