The first test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is ended, and the Indian team thrashed the Australian team by 132 runs and by an inning and now leading the series by 1-0. Australian batters kneel down in front of Indian spinner Ravindra Jadeja and R. Ashwin. Jadeja picked 5 wickets in the first innings, and it was his 11th fifer.

However, in the second innings, Indian spinner Ravi Ashwin showed his magic with the ball and bagged 5 of the Australian batters. This is Ashwin’s 31st five-wicket haul and 25th five-wicket haul at home. Also, with this fifer, Ashwin leveled Anil Kumble’s five-wicket haul at home and past Harbhajan Singh in this manner.

With this five-wicket haul, Ashwin became the 7th bowler with the most five-wicket haul. But looking at the active cricketer’s list, he is second highest in this list after English speedster James Anderson.

However, it was his 25th five-wicket haul on home soil, and with this, he leveled the former Indian skipper Anil Kumble. In this list, former Sri-Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralidaran is on top with (a 45) five-wicket haul; however, his teammate Rangana Herath is in second with (26) and now Indian spinner Ashwin and Kumble jointly standing on third spot.

With this five-wicket haul, Ashwin took a total of 320 wickets at home, which is more wickets than Warne and the fifth-best bowler in the world. Ashwin now has 97 wickets in the test rivalry against the Australian. He went past Harbhajan and Nathan Lyon and is just behind the Indian legend Anil Kumble who has 111 wickets to his name against the kangaroos.
