Former Pakistani cricketer and currently the chairman of PCB Ramiz Raza recently opined that Team India has started giving respect to current Babar Azam’s side. According to Ramiz, the reason behind this is Pakistan’s superb performances in the past 12 months.
The Chairman of PCB further added that there should be a lot of appreciation for the current Pakistani side for beating a ‘billion-dollar team’. Now veteran Indian spinner R Ashwin has come with a strong reply against the remark of Ramiz Raza. Before October 2021, Pakistan had never defeated India in an ICC tournament but last year in UAE Babar Azam & Company crushed India by 10 Wickets. After that, they again defeated India in Asia Cup 2022. Speaking on Pakistan’ recent domination over India Ramiz Raza had said that there was a time when the Pak team was considered as underdogs but now due to recent wins everyone has started appreciating them.
After the warm-up match against Western Australia when Ashwin was informed about Raza’s statement, the off-spinner said,”Until you said that, I didn’t know he made a statement like that. That is one way of dealing with it. But look it is a game of cricket, whatever political tensions, we don’t play very often.”

He further said,”The rivalry is big. It means a lot to the people of both countries but at the end of the day you do understand as a sportsperson that wins and losses are part of the game…especially in this format the margins are going to be so close and to respect an opposition is not something that comes with wins and defeats it comes in the way you are made and we definitely respect the Pakistan side and so do they.”
