Quinton De Kock lavishes praise on Sunil Narine

Sunil Narine had a fantastic game, scoring 44 runs off just 18 balls and taking 3 wickets for 13 runs in four overs. He helped the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) completely outplay Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by eight wickets in their IPL 2025 match at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday.

The pitch favored KKR’s spinners right from the start, and Narine, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Moeen Ali combined to take six wickets. CSK struggled and ended up with a low total of 103/9, which is their worst IPL score at Chepauk.

In response, Narine’s explosive batting and some wayward bowling from CSK meant KKR chased down the target with 59 balls to spare. Narine was named player of the match for his all-around performance.

KKR wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock praised Narine and Chakaravarthy, who took two wickets. He said, “The biggest value they bring is their variety in bowling. Both are mystery spinners, so it’s tough for batters to predict what they’ll do. They’re very accurate and always improving their game.”

De Kock noted how Narine’s aggressive style adds excitement. “He comes in ready to hit hard right from the start. He practices a lot and when he connects, it gives us a great start,” he explained.

With this big win, KKR moved up to third in the points table. They will next face Punjab Kings (PBKS), led by their former captain Shreyas Iyer, at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on April 15, Thursday.
