Sri Lankan cricket fans have a setback as the star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has an injury before the ODI World Cup 2023. The team is yet to announce the squad for the ODI World Cup set to start on October 5.
Although there were rumors prescribing that Dasun Shanaka might resign from his role as the captain of the white-ball cricket team, those rumors have been proven baseless. However, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is currently dealing with a different issue related to star all-rounder, Wanindu Hasaranga.
Wanindu Hasaranga played a vital role in helping Sri Lanka secure a spot in the final of the 2023 World Cup but presently the cricketer is undergoing rehabilitation.
Now according to a report of Insidesport, Hasaranga’s injury is said to be severe and he could miss the ODI World Cup in India. The selectors are still waiting for the confirmation on the fitness of Hasaranga and after it they will announce the team for the ODI World Cup 2023.
Apart from Hasaranga, star spinner Maheesh Theekshana is also awaiting the results of his fitness after sustaining an injury during the 2023 Asia Cup.
