Prithvi Shaw reveals the name of this cricketer who called him during his tough time

Prithvi Shaw has gone through a lot over the past two years. At one point, he was seen as a future star of Indian cricket, but he didn’t get picked by any team in the IPL 2025. Issues with fitness and discipline have really affected his career, and Shaw knows he has a tough road ahead. Recently, he reached out to the Mumbai Cricket Association to ask for a transfer before the new domestic season kicks off.

At just 25, Shaw has played five Tests and six ODIs for India. He was left out of the Mumbai Ranji team last year due to fitness problems and behavior concerns. After missing the rest of the Ranji Trophy season, his last game for Mumbai was in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy final, where they won against Madhya Pradesh.

In an interview with News24, Shaw shared that during his tough times, he didn’t hear from many big names in cricket. The only ones who reached out were Rishabh Pant and Sachin Tendulkar, who understands struggles well. He watched me grow up alongside Arjun Tendulkar, and I’ve been to his house, he said.

Shaw admitted he made some poor choices along the way. “There’s a lot that people don’t see. I know what went down. I slacked off with cricket. I used to practice for 3-4 hours without getting tired. But then distractions took over. I started hanging out with the wrong crowd during my peak, and that pulled me off track. I used to practice for 8 hours, but now it’s cut down to 4,” he explained.
