The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be the biggest one-day international showpiece scheduled for men’s cricket in 2025. Till the 2017 edition, India was the runner-up, having lost to Pakistan. The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has also given the Indian cricket team another chance to redeem themselves after broad criticism for their upset at the hands of Australia by 3-1. The ICC Champions Trophy will also mark the first mega event wherein BCCI’s new guidelines for travels of family members and personal staff will truly take effect.
According to a report in Cricbuzz, resuppliers will be extremely firm on the follow-through proper implementation of guidelines. Formal SOPs were issued by the players cyberspace for travel, practice area, baggage allowances, and accompanying family members. One clause of the guidelines states, “All players should stay for the entire period of the scheduled practice and travel together to and from the venue. This rule guarantees commitment and fosters strong work ethics within the team.” According to the aforementioned report, “violation of this rule could be seriously viewed by the BCCI.”
PTI quoted of players that in case of any such exceptional requests, expenses would be covered by them.
“As of now, the players almost certainly will not have their significant others with them on this tour. One of the senior players asked about this and was told that only the policy decision was going to be enforced,” a senior BCCI source says.
“Since the tour is of less than one month, once again families won’t be accompanying them. But maybe if exceptions are made, I think that individual will have to bear the full expenses, as the BCCI will not cover any costs.”
The senior official said that most of the rules had already been enforced by the BCCI.
“And, if you look at it, already no player can ask for a private vehicle to come for practice. All state units have been informed accordingly. Moreover, once the players assembled in Kolkata (for the T20I series against England) and Nagpur (for the ODI series against the same team), the team has travelled together,” he confirmed.
