PBKS vs MI, IPL 2024: Mumbai Indians In Big Problem Even After a 9-run Win Against Punjab Kings

Even after a 9-run win against Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians have suffered another major setback. Skipper of Mumbai, Hardik Pandya has been penalized with a Rs 12 lakh fine due to his team’s slow over-rate in their exciting nine-run win against Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League.

Mumbai Indians put up a challenging total of 192/7, largely due to Suryakumar Yadav’s aggressive 78 off 53 balls. Despite Ashutosh Sharma’s remarkable 61 off 28 balls and Shashank Singh’s 41 runs, Punjab Kings were dismissed for 183 in 19.1 overs.

After the third victory in seven matches in IPL 2024, MI moved up from ninth to seventh place on the points table, whereas PBKS dropped to ninth place after suffering their fifth defeat.

“Hardik Pandya, the Mumbai Indians captain, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Punjab Kings at the PCA New International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur on April 18,” said an IPL statement on Friday.

“As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Pandya was fined Rs 12 lakhs,” the statement added.

Now, in the next match of their IPL 2023 campaign, Mumbai Indians will face Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on April 22.
