PBKS’ Tough Luck: Sam Curran Reflects on Another Last-over Defeat

Punjab Kings skipper Sam Curran was gutted after his team lost another final thriller. In his interaction with broadcasters, Sam Curran said that the franchise and the last-over thriller are different love stories.

This was Punjab’s fifth loss in the final and, overall, their third loss at home. Punjab Kings finisher Ashutosh Sharma almost pulled off this run chase, scoring 61 of just 28 deliveries.

In his post-match presentation, Sam Curran said, “Another close one. This team (PBKS) loves close games. I did well to get close, thanks to Ashutosh (Sharma). Gutted, but a great effort to get that close.”

Speaking about the team’s top-order performance, Sam Curran said, “There is no question when you have lost early wickets throughout the tournament. It is heartbreaking for the guys to take it close and lose.”

The Punjab Kings captain was all praise for the efforts of the uncapped duo of Ashutosh Sharma and Shashank Singh. Shashank Singh had another good day in office, as he scored 41 of just 25 deliveries. However, it was Ashutosh Sharma who went all guns blazing against the Mumbai Indians bowling set-up.

Speaking about the uncapped duo, Sam Curran said, “The two batters have incredible confidence in their abilities. Hopefully, in the next few games, we can win the close games.”

The Punjab Kings are currently placed in 9th place with 4 points from 7 matches.
