Pat Cummins, the captain of Australia in both Test and ODI cricket, recently spoke candidly about his team’s winning streak in international cricket and mentioned how fortunate they have been in their professional lives. After winning the 2023 ODI World Cup and the World Test Championship (WTC), the Kangaroos are notably dominating in international cricket under Cummins’ guidance.
When asked recently how his team ranks among the best Australian teams of the last 20 years, the captain of Australia gave his answer. Refusing to comment, the 31-year-old stated that the people should make the final decision. But according to Cummins, they’ve completed practically everything and are pleased with the group’s performance.
“I’m not the one to say. Nearly everything you could possibly want has been checked off. Numerous World Cups and the World Test Championship have been won by the majority of the players. With the professions that we have all had, we have all been really fortunate. I’ll let others make that decision, but overall, I’m pretty pleased with how the group has performed, Cummins stated in an exclusive interview with Sports Tak.
The Australian seamer was also questioned about their team’s lackluster reception back home in Australia following their victory in the World Cup in India. Cummins explained the situation by saying that while everyone in the nation was ecstatic after the win, the excitement differed slightly from that of India.
“Yes, that’s what Australia is like. It’s serene and fantastic. Due to everyone’s departure for separate places, things are a little different. When we returned to Australia, we didn’t really have a big party, but every time we ventured out onto the streets, I can assure you that everyone was excited. For the next few weeks, we, the players, were out for coffee or whatever, and everyone was completely focused on the World Cup final. Even if the streets might not have been as packed as they might have been if India had won, he said, “I can assure you that many fans were extremely happy.”
After SRH defeated RR by 36 runs in Qualifier 2, Cummins guided the team to their third Indian Premier League final. Hyderabad and KKR will next face off in the summit match on Sunday, May 26 at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium. With two significant ICC trophies already won during his time as captain, Cummins would be keen to add an IPL title to his collection.
