India’s cricket squad and its supporters faced a huge disappointment on Sunday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore as the Kiwis beat the host by 8 wickets.
KL Rahul while playing in his backyard could not do anything worthwhile, for he was dismissed for a duck and scored 12 runs in that order in the match. As for Sarfaraz Khan, he made a first innings duck which is the mistake he learnt from, to come back and post a score of over 150 runs in the second innings to aid the Indian cause of trying to get back into the game.
Shubman Gill, the Indian batter who missed the first Test due to a neck strain, is likely to make himself available for the second Test against the Kiwis which may prove difficult for them since they would have to choose between Rahul and Sarfaraz .
Parthiv Patel, a former Indian opener however said speaking about the theme that there are chances that side will prefer Rahul instead of Sarfaraz considering his good innings in the last match. Team India has supported the wicketkeeper batter in tests lately.
Indian Cricket was found that ‘The question will be whether Sarfaraz Khan will get to play or they will go with KL Rahul. I will still play KL Rahul, the way the team has shown faith in him. I am thinking like that based on how the team’s thinking has been.’
Although Rahul for some reshuffle was asked to bat at No.6 shirting his usual Number 3 position as Virat Kohli came into bat when the team was one down in both innings.
“For this particular Test match, one could have asked Rahul to bat at Number 3 but it was conveyed that his place would not be altered,”
“Nothing to take from Sarfaraz’s knock, he made 150 runs for sure, but it’s the same situation as Mohammed Siraj or Akash Deep. There will definitely be pressure on KL Rahul but I would still play him,” Patel said.
