Former Pakistani legend cricketer Shoaib Akhtar is malcontent with the Pakistan Cricket Board squad selection for T20 World Cup 2022, as PCB disclosed the name of 15-member squad for the upcoming mega event in Australia. ICC T20 no.3 batter Babar Azam has been given the captain’s responsibility, while Shadab Khan will be seen as vice-captain.
Once again, Shoaib Akhtar has criticised the selectors of PCB; he said that PCB has again ignored the biggest problem of the Pakistan team in the forthcoming mega event and this selected squad doesn’t have the depth in the middle-order batting, and he worries that Pakistan will not go beyond first round.
“Iss middle order ke sath Pakistan kahin pehle round se bahar na ho jaye. Mujhe iss chiz ka bada darr hai ke Pakistan ki jo batting expose hui hai, isme koi depth nahi hai” said Shoiab Akhtar.
“If Pakistan manages to pull through with this team, I wish them the best of luck, but I see the batting line-up getting exposed. I can’t see the depth in their batting,” he reiterated.
After being criticised by many former cricketers, it will be fascinating to see how Pakistan will respond to their critics in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Their combination has ICC No.1 and number 3 T20I batsmen in form of Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam and have impactful players like Shaheen Shah Afridi and big hitter Asif Ali. Pakistan will start their T20 World Cup 2022 against their arch-rival India at Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 23rd.
