Pakistan will play Bangladesh in a two-game Test series at home. The first game at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will begin on Wednesday (August 21), and the second match will also be at the same place from August 30 to September 3. Karachi was supposed to host the second Test, but because of construction work at the National Stadium, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to change the location on Sunday (August 18).
Pakistan lost all three games in their last Test series against Australia, and the team led by Shan Masood really wants to perform well in front of their home fans. Beating Bangladesh will not only make the Pakistani fans happy, but it will also keep their chances alive for reaching the 2025 World Test Championship final.
In the upcoming two-game Test series against Bangladesh, Pakistan has an opportunity to join India and Australia on a prestigious list. If Pakistan can sweep Bangladesh in their home matches, they will become the sixth team ever to win 150 Test matches. Pakistan, who played their first Test in 1952 against India, has won 148 out of the 456 matches they have played so far.
Australia holds the record for the most Test wins in history. The Australian team, known as the Baggy Greens, has won 414 out of the 866 matches they have played so far.
Following Australia is England, which has won 395 out of 1074 Tests. The West Indies is in third place with 183 wins in 580 Tests, followed by South Africa and India, which have won 179 and 178 Tests, respectively.
Most wins in Tests:
Australia – 414
England – 395
West Indies – 183
South Africa – 179
India – 178
Pakistan – 148
New Zealand – 115
Sri Lanka – 103
Bangladesh – 19
Zimbabwe – 13
Afghanistan – 3
Ireland – 2
So far, Pakistan has competed in 13 Test matches against Bangladesh and has won 12 of them. Based on these results, it seems likely that Pakistan will be able to defeat Bangladesh in the next two matches.
Following the games against Bangladesh, Pakistan will face England in a series of three Test matches at home in October. Before playing against Pakistan, England will prepare by competing in a series of three Test matches at home against Sri Lanka. The first Test match between England and Sri Lanka is planned to start at Old Trafford in Manchester on Wednesday, August 21.
If England is able to win all three matches against Sri Lanka and then win at least two of the matches against Pakistan, it will become the second team ever, after Australia, to win 400 Test matches.
