Pakistan cricket board to soon announce an advisory board headed by Waqar Younis.

The head of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Mohsin Naqvi, said that a group of six advisors, led by Waqar Younis, will be created soon. This decision aims to stop favoritism towards certain players in the national cricket team. Naqvi responded to his critics by saying that he is focused on achieving results and doesn’t worry about what others think of his understanding of cricket. Naqvi, who was a businessman before becoming a politician and is currently serving as the temporary chief minister during this year’s elections, became angry when a reporter questioned his knowledge of cricket.

At a press event, Naqvi, who is also the federal minister for the interior, stated, “You’ll see how much I know about cricket through our actions. I’m not concerned with what people say; you’ll see the outcomes.” He added, “I’m bringing in past cricket stars to review and enhance our cricket system and put an end to this issue of personal preferences.”

PCB set to overhaul domestic cricket:

In addition to Naqvi, Salman Naseer, the PCB’s chief operating officer, and Waqar, the advisor on cricket affairs, were present at the meeting.

Naqvi also revealed the introduction of a new domestic system, which he mentioned would be included in the constitution. “We will incorporate this new domestic system into the constitution to ensure it cannot be altered in the future,” he stated.

Naqvi mentioned that the new domestic system will start next month and will involve five teams, each consisting of 30 players. These five teams will compete in various tournaments, including first-class, 50-over, and T20 matches.

“Every team will have a well-known former player as their supervisor, and he will have three years to lead the team and achieve success. Each team will also have a group of about 10 people to help them, including coaches,” he explained.

He mentioned that Pakistan’s contracted players must participate in these events when they are available.

The aim is to improve Pakistan’s performance:

He mentioned that the five experienced players, who will lead these teams, will also be part of a cricket advisory board led by Waqar. This board will handle all cricket-related matters.

Waqar expressed his agreement and support for the new system, emphasizing that resources will be used to enhance domestic cricket.

“We plan to appoint five renowned players to lead the teams, and I am already in contact with some of them,” said the former fast bowler of the Pakistan team.

Waqar stated that the primary goal is to improve the Pakistan team’s performance in international matches.

“Cricket is our main focus, and we need to play well to maintain our reputation. Everything else comes after that.”
