The 13th edition of the ODI World Cup will be entirely hosted by India and now according to the latest report, the tournament will kick off on October 5 and the final of the World Cup will be played on November 19.
The reports claim that BCCI is hosting a 10-team major cricket event and has narrowed down its choices to at least 12 venues. The Indian Cricket Management has decided to hold the final match at the world’s biggest cricket stadium located in Ahmedabad.
Apart from Ahmedabad, the list of potential venues includes Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Rajkot, and Mumbai. The tournament will consist of 48 matches, including three knockout matches, that will be played over a 46-day period.
This is the first time India will be hosting an ODI World Cup without sharing it with any other Asian nation such as Pakistan, Sri Lanka, or Bangladesh. Before it, India had got the hosting rights of the 1987 World Cup along with Pakistan. The 1996 World Cup was co-hosted by India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, and then in 2011 where India lifted the ODI World Cup for the second time under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
